Our greatest fear...: Excerpt from "Coach Carter," text by Marianne Williamson

Quote from the movie "Coach Carter":
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Our greatest fear...: Text from "Coach Carter" reimagined

Original text by Marianne Williamson (quoted in the film "Coach Carter," often mistakenly attributed to Nelson Mandela):
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Excerpt from "Politics as a Vocation," Max Weber, 1919. Potsdam Internet edition, p. 450 (link).

Politics means slowly and steadily drilling through hard boards with both passion and a sense of proportion. It is absolutely true, and all historical experience confirms it, that the possible would never have been achieved if people had not repeatedly striven for the impossible. But those who can do this must be leaders and not only that, but also—in the simplest sense of the word—heroes. And even those who are neither must arm themselves with the strength of heart that can cope with the failure of all hopes, even now, otherwise they will not be able to achieve even what is possible today. Only those who are certain that they will not break down when the world, from their point of view, is too stupid or too mean for what they want to offer it, that they are able to say "nevertheless!" in the face of all this, only they have a "vocation" for politics.

People are unreasonable, irrational, and selfish. Love them anyway. When you do good, people will accuse you of having selfish motives. Do good anyway. When you are successful, you will gain false friends and true enemies. Be successful anyway. The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Honesty and openness make you vulnerable. Be honest and open anyway. People pity losers, but they only follow winners. Fight for some of the losers anyway. What you have built over years may be destroyed overnight. Keep building anyway. People really need help, but they may attack you when you help them. Help these people anyway. Give the world the best you have, and you will be kicked in return. Give the world the best anyway. Ultimately, everything is between you and God. It was never between you and others anyway.

"Strong leadership skills and excellent teamwork abilities" Richard David Precht appeals to tax advisors
Deep creativity and analytical thinking are no longer optional extras; they are not luxury skills, but survival techniques. Many traditional professions such as [...] tax advisors, etc., as we know them today, will no longer exist in the future. What the younger generation can already do on their own computers will only survive as a profession with special expert status. Millions of service professions based on finding something on the internet that anyone can find themselves are dying out. The key competencies of the quaternary sector—the world of highly qualified consultants, environmental and social scouts, top technologists, and specialized communication service providers—require independent thinkers, creative conflict resolvers, strong leaders, and highly skilled team players.

Lyrics to "Auf uns" by Andreas Bourani.

Who can freeze this moment for us? It couldn't be better. Think of the days that lie behind us, how long we've been sharing joy and tears. Here, everyone would walk through fire for each other. We never stand alone in the rain, and as long as our hearts guide us, it will always be that way. Cheers to what lies ahead, may it be the best for us. Cheers to what unites us, to this time. (To this time) Cheers to us, to this life To the moment that will always remain Cheers to us, to now and forever To a day of infinity We have wings, swear eternal loyalty Gild this day for us A lifetime without regrets From the first step to the grave Cheers to what lies ahead of us, ... CHORUS A firework display of endorphins A firework display lights up the night So many lights remain A moment that makes us immortal Immortal Cheers to what lies ahead, ... CHORUS Cheers to us, a firework display of endorphins Cheers to us, a firework display lights up the night Cheers to us, so many lights remain To us.

Self-confidence & self-awareness:
10 very simple tips

When I truly began to love myself, I understood that I am always in the right place at the right time, and that everything that has happened is right. From then on, I was able to be calm. Today I know that this is called trust!

When I truly began to love myself, I understood how much it shames someone to impose my desires on them, even though I knew that neither the time was right nor the person was ready, even if that person was myself. Today I know that this is called self-respect!

When I truly began to love myself, I realized that emotional pain and suffering are merely warnings for me to live against my own truth. Today I know that this is called being authentic!

When I truly began to love myself, I stopped longing for a different life and could see that everything around me was an invitation to grow. Today I know that this is called maturity!

When I truly began to love myself, I stopped depriving myself of my free time and I stopped developing grandiose plans for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and pleasure, what I love and what makes my heart laugh, in my own way and at my own pace. Today, I know that this is called honesty!

When I truly began to love myself, I freed myself from everything that was not healthy for me, from food, people, things, situations, and everything that repeatedly pulled me down, away from myself. At first, I called it healthy selfishness, but today I know that it is self-love!

When I truly began to love myself, I stopped always wanting to be right, so I made fewer mistakes. Today I realize that this is called being simple!

When I truly began to love myself, I refused to continue living in the past and worrying about my future. Now I live only in the present moment, where everything happens. This is how I live every day, and I call it perfection!

When I truly began to love myself, I realized that my thinking could make me feel poor and sick. However, when I called upon the power of my heart, my mind gained an important partner. I call this connection the wisdom of the heart!

We no longer need to fear arguments, conflicts, and problems with ourselves and others, because even stars sometimes collide and new worlds are created. Today I know that this is life!
